Way back in 2012, there was a health and wellbeing initiative called the 1 Million Kilo Challenge where Australians were encouraged to sign up and receive meal and exercise plans to collectively shed, you guessed it, one million kilograms.

I signed up to a team with some friends and family with one recipe sticking with me for the years since.  It isn’t a crazy, full on recipe, something rather simple with so many uses.  In the meal plan they called it the ALPS Blend, but the hubby and I simply call it Seed Mixture and eat it everyday.

I believe I have mentioned once or twice my dislike of fondant and the hubby especially hates it.  But as it is pretty regularly used in the cake decorating world I need to suck it up and find something that I actually am happy working with and that I actually like eating.

My friend Chuy from Chuy’s Cakes (you may have noticed the link on the right hand side to her blog, but you can also check her out on Facebook – her Farm Cake is one of my favourites) told me ages ago that she makes her own marshmallow fondant so I finally got around to searching the interweb for a recipe to try.  You can’t rush these things.

It is a given that chocolate is one of my favourite things in this world and it is no surprise that it is the key ingredient behind one of my favourite desserts to make and eat, going by the name of chocolate mousse.  In my eyes I have the most perfect recipe, which I have made a thousand times over, and one of the ingredients is vanilla sugar.  After becoming annoyed at buying the small bottles of it from the supermarket, which frankly aren’t the best tasting, I decided I would try my hand at my very own homemade vanilla sugar.
