a little bit savoury | a whole lot sweet
Recently I was contacted regarding this little blog being included in a list on Rebatezone for the Top 50 Food Blogs in Australia. Of course I said yes and below is a list of the entire 50, with yours truly being at number 42.
Have a look at some of the others, as I will be, as I am sure there will be some delicious morsels to tempt those taste buds.
Once again, it was time to head to the big smoke to attend the Cake Bake and Sweets Show for 2015. As was the case last year, I attended with my mother and mother-in-law and we spent our Saturday morning looking at some amazing cakes, trying not to spend too much money, and buying some tasty treats.
This year also saw the Australian Cake Decorating Network (ACDN) follow up their wedding chapel made of cake from the Melbourne show with the entry way to Luna Park replicated in cake, and it was pretty spectacular.
Yesterday I had a very exciting day attending the Cake Bake and Sweets Show in Sydney with my mother and mother-in-law. It is the first year that the show has been held and needless to say, I think it is going to be much bigger next year. We have already decided that we are going again.
It ended up just being a day trip for us which did make it a long day driving 2 ½ hours each way to get there, but it was really worth it. Sooooo many people attended, we thought we got there at a decent time before the doors opened but the queue was already snaking around the front of the building but once the doors opened, it moved pretty quickly and we could make our way around the amazing displays, cakes and stalls.
The post for this week is a little different as there is no recipe to share. It absolutely, positively isn’t because I wasn’t organised to line something up because you know that would never happen… well OK, it does… sometimes.
Instead I am going to share a little bit on how I celebrated my birthday this week under the banner of The Sweet Life. Some of the blogs I follow have a similar thing where they share snippets of their lives with their readers and in the event I do this more, I figured I better have a name for it. Given how the vast majority of the recipes on this blog are sweet, I decided to go with The Sweet Life especially after a very charming French pastry chef wrote these three words in my friends cook book as he signed it (I left mine at home that day so didn’t get an autograph myself… oh well).
So let’s get started with episode one.
